1. Take a fall foliage tour. New England is known for its vivid autumn colors. From mid-September through October, maple, oak, birch, and other trees bloom with fiery red, sunny yellow, and golden hued leaves. This living history museum lets you visit a Wampanoag homesite and talk with descendants of New England's customary inhabitants. You can also gad a recreated 1627 farming settlement and see tailors, potters, and basket makers using the same techniques used by the Pilgrims when they first settled in Plimouth.
